Megatape Double Sided Butyl

Description

Megatape is a double sided butyl adhesive tape designed for bonding Megaswell hydrophilic bentonite products to a wide variety of substrates. It provides excellent initial tack and longterm adhesion, making it suitable for securing hydrophilic waterstops and bentonite strips to concrete, steel, PVC and other common construction substrates prior to concrete placement.

Surface Preparation

• All surfaces are to be clean, sound, smooth, dry and free of any residual moisture, loose material,
  dirt, dust, oil, grease, wax residues, laitance, curing compounds, release agents, existing coatings,
  moss, algae, sharp protruding objects and general surface contaminants which may compromise
  adhesion. It is highly recommended to solvent wipe any metal or powder-coated surfaces prior to
  installation of Megatape
• Structurally unsound layers and surface contaminants to be mechanically removed by grinding,
  abrasive blasting or equivalent methods
• Masonry surfaces to be pointed flush, and all surface defects including voids, holes, pitted
  sections, heavy undulations and non-structural cracks to be filled and levelled
• Building surfaces must be fit for purpose, constructed and installed to manufacturer’s
  recommendations and relevant building standards in force at time of application
  Priming
• Over most non-porous and dense surfaces including metals and PVC plastics, priming is generally
  not required
• Highly porous or surfaces that contain dust or residues must be primed with a suitable primer
• For damp surfaces, or surfaces containing high levels of residual moisture, water-based epoxy
  primer must be used
• Other non-standard surfaces may require the use of an epoxy primer to ensure adhesion
