Cementaid Driwal P6

REQUIREMENT:

Long term protection of concrete, brick and stonework against weathering, staining or mould
decay, without affecting natural texture or appearance. Long term preservation of cement/lime
based paints and fibro/cement sheets in near new condition.

HOW TO SPECIFY:

All exposed exterior surfaces of the building other than metal, wood and glass surfaces and surfaces protected by oil paints, when clean, dry and complete shall be protected against weathering, grime, mould and decay by a single saturating impregnation of CEMENTAID calcium reactive DRIWAL P6. The DRIWAL P6 shall be flooded on from the top downwards with a minimum run down of 15cm by low pressure pump or spray at the minimum rates for various surfaces as stated below.

COVERAGE:

• Cement/Lime based paints – Not less than 1 litre per 5.0 sq. metres
• Pressed clay brickwork/pavers – Not less than 1 litre per 5.0 sq. metres
• Texture and wire cut bricks – Not less than 1 litre per 4.5 sq. metres
• Concrete and cement render – Not less than 1 litre per 3-6 sq. metres
• Concrete block – Not less than 1 litre per 2-3 sq. metres
• Fibro cement roofing and wall cladding – Not less than 1 litre per 3.0 sq. metres
• Sandstone – Not less than 1 litre per 2.0 sq. metres
• Gambier Stone – Not less than 1 litre per 1.5 sq. metres
• A. Limestone – Not less than 1 litre per 1.5 sq. metres
• Terracotta or cement tiles – Not less than 1 litre per 5.0 sq. metres

SPECIFICATIONS FOR CHOSEN AREAS:

All surfaces (specify areas) shall be protected against weathering, grime, mould and decay by a
single saturation impregnation with calcium-reactive DRIWAL P6 Specification Grade at the rate of not less than one litre per ……. Sq. m. (here specify area for type of surface to be treated from above table). NOTE: One application of DRIWAL P6 only is usually necessary, due to its unique reactive properties.

EFFECTS:

The modified silicone chains of DRIWAL P6 chemically react with calcareous materials in the outer 5mm of surface masonry, and become part of the surface. The surface can ‘breathe’ but is water repellent in depth and sterilised against organic growth staining. Effective life 8 to 14 years. Typical test – Units of moisture passing per hour, after 100 hours – DRIWAL P6 0.15 (typical figure) untreated – 1.20.

WHERE RECOMMENDED:

All external natural masonry surfaces. Fibro cement roofs and cladding. Exterior concrete surfaces. Primer for all paint work (exterior). Paint primer over ‘green’ cement where finishing urgent after rendering. Correction of damp walls consult CEMENTAID for many special uses.
